Ten-year-old Natasha Drby lives a peculiar lifestyle for someone her age. Natasha lives at the Monument Luxury Retirement Condos in Colorado with her mom nurse Claudia and Grandma Dotty. While most girls her age are spending their leisure time having sleepovers and taking gymnastic classes, Natasha spends her days researching witches, fairies and the unseen. She believed in the ancient African stories her Grandmother Dotty told her but never did she believe she would become a part of a magical story of her own.
Grandma Dotty is a retired pre-school teacher that migrated to America from Kampala, Uganda. She adopted Natasha’s mom Claudia as a small child and would tell her the same stories about fairy warriors and witches. Claudia never believed the stories her mom would tell but not Natasha. Natasha shared the same excitement for such stories as her grandmother and investigating the unseen was her obsession.
One-night Dotty finishes her evening reading and prepares to settle in for bedtime. As she drifts off to sleep a light zips by her eyes and awakens her. She follows the light outside and into the courtyard behind the condos where she meets a wonderful surprise – Egyptian fairy Ruthie. Dotty learns of a great evil lurking in her retirement home. Ruthie explains that she and the other residents are in danger and that someone is posing as an ancient evil witch named Bela. Before Ruthie could tell the whole story, something makes a noise and sinister eyes appear in the distance. Ruthie yells for Dotty to run as fast as she can back inside to safety.
Out of breath, Dotty barely makes it to her suite with a bleeding toe she stumped on a rock. She writes down the message Ruthie told her “Ruthie – Fairy of truth, trapped with her sisters by evil witch. To break the spell and destroy the witch must have planet bracelet. The witch is . .” but before she could finish writing the entire clue in her book something comes in her room and scares her. Dotty tries to hide in her bathroom but the creature comes inside causing her to fall and hit her head on the edge of the tub. Dotty laid unconscious for hours bleeding from her head before a nurse noticed her in the morning and called the ambulance.
The next day Natasha sat in Dotty’s room missing her best friend. When she finds Dotty’s book and the clue inside she begins her investigation in finding out what happened on the day of Dotty’s accident. That night in Dotty’s room Natasha and Ruthie meet for the first time and team up to find out who is posing as the witch. Ruthie is weak. Each passing day she is not with her sisters she loses power but she is determined to help Natasha, free her sisters and kill the witch.
Claudia gets frustrated and does not believe Natasha when she tries to explain that the witch is her boss Director Jezabel Luther but when Natasha disappears, Claudia has no choice to believe. She meets Ruthie and the two find Natasha together. Ruthie fades and Grandma Dotty dies from her accident but then becomes a fairy.
In a race before the third sunset, Natasha and her mom trick the witch and get the bracelet. They destroy it releasing Ruthie, her sisters, and their powers. Ruthie’s sister Jasmine turns into a dragon and the five sisters battle and kill the witch. Yanina, the fairy with healing power heals Natasha from the witches' attack. Jasmine turns back into her five-inch self with the help of Grandma Dotty’s magical words. Before saying good-bye, the sisters and Dotty give Natasha a necklace with a charm on it that holds a little of each of their powers that she can use to summon them whenever she needs magical help.
